GearForge: Gear Preview · iPhone & iPad · Version 1.0
App support
Make gears, preview their motion, and keep your designs close. Here’s help with saving your work and taking it into your next project.
All tools are included
Version 1.0 includes gear editing and previews, local editable designs, SVG, DXF and STL exports, prototype coaster ZIP packages, laser-fit adjustment, and editable JSON backups. No in-app purchases or extra unlocks are needed.
No account is needed. The built-in editor works offline and cannot reach the internet. The app has no analytics and no tracking and collects no data.
Keep your designs safe
Changes save locally when storage succeeds. Open My designs to return to a design. If Not saved appears, keep the app open and try Export design backup before closing. If backup saving also fails, keep the error message for support; do not assume the last edit was stored.
SVG contains exported geometry; an editable JSON backup keeps design settings. Keep an extra copy of important work outside the app. An export can succeed even when editable-design autosave fails; read any warning before closing.
Save and share your files
Choose a supported format and save. After a successful save, use Share to choose Files or another compatible destination. Available destinations depend on the device and installed apps. Cancelling sharing keeps the file in GearForge.
Exports stay in the app until you choose where to save or share a copy. GearForge does not upload them. If sharing does not open, find the file in Settings and try its Share action. Check available storage and whether the destination supports that file type.
Leave laser fit at zero unless you have measured the cut width for your material and machine.
Remove a design or the app
In My designs, choose Remove, then confirm Remove design. Choose Keep design to cancel. Removing the current design opens another saved design, or creates a default design if none remain.
Removing a design keeps its exports in Settings. Version 1.0 has no individual saved-export deletion control. Deleting the app removes its current local app data, so back up important files first. Offloading keeps app data. Shared files and device backups need separate management.
Make a test fit first
Animation and geometry checks help inspect a design. They do not certify a physical part, fit, strength, movement, material, machine setting or cup support. Printed or cut gears need a test fit; physical results are not guaranteed. Coaster designs are prototypes. GearForge does not control a laser or printer.
